Fight Club is Overrated

"The First Rule of Fight club is everyone have fun"

This take may offend a lot of you loyal vegasfours.com fans, but I am not the biggest “Fight Club” fan. I find this movie extremely overrated, and I think social media has a lot to do with why I don’t like this movie. Let’s get the positives out of the way. David Fincher is a genius, and I am a fan of a lot of his movies. “Fight Club” is also not a “bad” movie at all. When I watched this movie for the first time I thought it was intense and a seat-edger, up until when the buildings exploded at the end. Also Brad Pitt is the man. However, it’s what happened after the movie that really, dare I say, turned me off, this movie…..The Sigma edits. 

I swear from 2021-2023 a large majority of my For You Page was just a bunch of “Fight Club” edits. And not the cool upbeat edits like you may sometimes get with movies like Spiderman or Big Hero 6 (not sure why those were the first 2 movie edits that came to mind). These edits were dark and had a lot of “this world blows and my life is hard but it’s okay because I’m a sigma like Tyler Durden” energy. And I get it, the movie is a darker, more thought-provoking type of art. But it’s annoying when every single movie account I followed during this time period was posting these edits. The caption was always like “embrace your inner Tyler Durden” with a trash bass boosted song playing in the background. Give me a break. Edits aside, there are a lot of people out there that genuinely think this film is the greatest movie of all time. I am not usually one to judge other people's opinions about anything, but if you think “Fight Club” is the best movie ever made, take a walk outside. Again, I don’t think this movie is bad, but I sure do think it is overrated. I may even go as far as to say this is THE most overrated film of all time, even more overrated than “The Notebook”. And yes I guessed the twist before it happened Smiles confidently while writing

Maybe it’s my fault. Maybe my own social media habits made it so that these edits were all over my feed. Maybe I am the reason I think this movie is overrated. Maybe I’m fat and ugly. Maybe I’m an idiot who doesn’t know what they're talking about and should stop writing movie reviews on this phenomenal website. Or Maybe…just maybe, I do know ball and this movie is overrated.
